Brightly Storytime: Lillian’s Right to Vote
by the Brightly Editors
Follow along with Ms. Linda as she reads this powerful story about Lillian, an elderly African American woman who is on her way to vote. Along the way she will remember the struggles and victories that came with ensuring that every American’s voice is heard on election day; from the passage of the Fifteenth Amendment, the march from Selma to Montgomery, and finally the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Voting is such an important part of being a citizen, and activists today are still fighting to make sure that everyone has the right to vote. To find more inspiring stories, check out our roundup of Books and Activities to Celebrate Black History Month.
