5 Small But Important Life Lessons from Together Is Better to
Share with Your Kids

by the Brightly Editors

Together Is Better: A Little Book of Inspiration, written by Simon Sinek and illustrated by Ethan M. Aldridge, is a new story about finding inspiration in your career and becoming a collaborative, constructive, and caring leader  told in the form of a pint-sized picture book that follows three children as they learn to scale walls, cross rivers, make new friends, and have fun along the way.

For adult readers, the childrens’ journey, as they avoid falling prey to negative playground politics and begin to work as a team, serves as a metaphor for navigating the modern-day workplace and pursuing a fulfilling career path  but the lessons of Together Is Better offer plenty of nuggets of wisdom to share with younger readers as well. The tale contains valuable messages about finding confidence, learning to collaborate, standing up to bullies, and overcoming obstacles. We’ve pulled some of our favorite lessons, for adults and children alike, from this story that just begs to be gifted (the book even includes an inscription page with “For” and “From” lines!). And remember: In the end, working together is better.

1. “A vision is like a dream — it will disappear unless we do something with it.”
