I used to avoid the nonfiction section of the library like it was infested with flying serpents — until my daughter checked out a huge stack of books on outer space. To my surprise, she loved them. With her insatiable thirst for knowledge, I found us venturing down the rows of nonfiction more and more often. And rather than finding the shelves full of stuffy textbook-style tomes, I discovered great books on subjects that not only interested my kids but educated them too.
